1994…Miles Watters coaches the Yellowjackets to the last of his 11 state championships at Clayton as his team beats Hot Springs 52-39 in the 2A finale
1993…After a two-year break in winning the 2A title, Clayton gets back on top by knocking off Tularosa 60-38
1990…Clayton goes 25-2 and beats Navajo Academy in the championship game for a second straight year – and extends state crown streak to eight years. Final: Yellowjackets 38, Eagles 29
1989…A thriller in the Class 2A state championship as Yellowjackets squeeze by Navajo Academy 38-37
1988…For second straight year, Clayton goes 27-2 and bests Mora in the title game as Yellowjackets win 56-38
1987…Five straight first-place trophies now as ‘Jackettes knock off Mora 49-38 for 2A bragging rights
1986…Coach Miles Watters and Clayton claims fourth title in a row by beating Santa Fe Indian School 53-44
1985…Yellowjackets only lose one game all year and it’s not in the Class 2A state championship game. Final: Clayton 73, Mora 48
1984…Clayton handles Penasco 44-26 in the 2A finale to put finishing touch on a 24-4 state title campaign
1983…Walloping Thoreau 71-31 for the 2A championship trophy, Yellowjackets rebound to claim second crown in last three years
1981…The first of many: Miles Watters coaches Clayton to a state title as his team beats Santa Rosa 47-41
1978…Behind the leadership of coach Bob Horton, Yellowjackets grab first state championship on the hardwood by beating Estancia 48-40

Boys Basketball
1987…Yellowjackets, coached by Norman Wright, grab the boys 2A championship for second time in the decade by ousting Pecos 65-59 in the title game
1980…Clayton and coach Paul Chavez finish up a sparkling 28-2 year by defeating Penasco 71-57 in the 2A finale


1992…First championship on the diamond as Clayton, coached by John Del Valle, outscores Jemez Valley 12-7 to claim the 1A-2A first-place trophy
