


Called “very intelligent” by Artesia baseball coach Clay Foster, the future Texas Tech engineering student has roamed the outfield for three years on the Bulldogs varsity squad.
As Artesia rose to #2 in the coaches poll rankings in March, Donaghe was instrumental in his team’s hitting attack. Batting over .400, he was the lead-off man for the ‘Dogs and justified that placement in the lineup by striking out only six times.



Commitment in the classroom meets competitiveness on the athletic field in the person of Pollard. Called a fierce competitor by Artesia girls basketball coach Jeff Houghtaling, Pollard was the Bulldogs’ leading scorer as well as pacing her team in assists, steals and free-throw percentage.
The 5-foot, 7-inch guard hopes to keep playing collegiately. In the meantime, Candace will be throwing the javelin for Artesia just before graduation. Last year, she qualified for the state track & field meet in that event.
