No doubt, supporters of the Braves and Lady Braves are mad about basketball. And they’ve been rewarded by the SFIS boys and girls hardwood squads. But S.F. Indian also has a proud tradition in at least one other sport.

1989…Second Class 1A-2A crown in three years for Santa Fe Indian after Baves nip Clayton 5-4

1987…First time in 30 years for SFIS reaching the pinnacle on the diamond after a 7-3 victory over Jal in championship game

1957…The Class B title contest goes to Santa Fe Indian School – the first championship in school history in any sport

Boys Basketball
1989…Santa Fe Indian School triumphs in Class 2A when the 24-1 Braves, led by coach Mike Parton, top Hot Springs 55-52

Girls Basketball
2011…S.F. Indian proves itself the class of the class by handling Shiprock 43-22 in the 3A championship game
2010…Outstanding play by junior Jenine Corez leads the way as Lady Braves beat district rival West Las Vegas 56-50 for the championship
2005…SFIS and coach Johnny Abeyta capture school’s lone girls basketball championship and end two-year run by Portales. Class 3A finale: Lady Braves 42, Rams 37
